Things that contain objective beauty, tend to replicate themselves more than things that don't.
This is a clear definition. There is no "woo-woo" involved here. No relativistic "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
When I learned this about #aesthetics, it was revolutionary for me. I realized the importance of art, and how it was on a similar footing with science, mathematics, and philosophy. There are truths to aesthetics in our universe that we can uncover. We never say "Physics is in the eye of the beholder." or "Math is in the eye of the beholder." Likewise, we should never slander #art in the same way.
Some patterns of bits contain beauty, and some don't. The ones that do will tend to persist in our universe. They will reliably copy themselves, from brain to brain, from computer to computer, or from painting to camera.
All you have to so is visit a museum, and you can see beauty replicating itself.

Knowledge - A particular type of information. These patterns of bits can reliably cause physical changes in the universe, and because of that, this type of information tends to remain instantiated in information media. Examples: Sequences in DNA that make up genes, Newton's first law of motion, Beethoven's fifth symphony, the number PI.
