I'm torn here. I don't like speaking up on issues like this, but I don't feel comfortable ignoring it, so. Just crossing my fingers to not have people harassing _me_ over this one.

The objective reality is that the view that twitter is a nazi bar is a minority, and that people on much of the fediverse are effectively self-selected by that belief, with minor exceptions. But it remains a minority.

Most people using twitter, or facebook, or, hell - Google has contracts with $PICK_YOUR_LEAST_FAVORITE_MILITARY, and most people using chromebooks do not ever even _think_ about that when they choose to use a chromebook.

And, well.

> You do this a lot, like when you tell a story about someone getting blocked and threatened. Those are two separate kinds of behavior. One of them is a crime. The other is completely fine ... but your post lumps them together. Why would you do that?

Both happen in tandem, in response to the same action, as part of an orchestrated response. It's _reasonable_ to lump the two together IMO. Hell, it's practically the _expected result_ when people get called a nazi; _both behaviors_ stem from the exact same rhetoric.

And having looked at the original post, yeah, dude looks like a wanker, not a nazi.

I know of several people at a local queer-focused nonprofit who use AI tools _as part of running the nonprofit_. All of them are antifascist, not a single one of them would _agree with labelling the tools as fascist_.

I've seen a _lot_ of this problem, I think, in which people who fundamentally share the same principles ("nazis bad") but disagree on the _facts on the ground_ ("using twitter makes you a nazi" vs "I use twitter to talk to other antifascists" vs "I use twitter to talk to my friends who use twitter, Elon Musk is the rocket guy right?") gets conflated into a whole Thing and I think it's unreasonable tbh.

And much of fedi is an echo chamber which reinforces the idea that these are just, The Truth ("twitter is for nazis"), but reality is not that simple (1/3rd of everyone in the US uses twitter. I've considered holding my nose and using it a few times just to stay in touch with people I know who use it. I know you know that I'm not a Nazi.)

And honestly, for someone to be mass blocked and targeted over the fact that they _have a twitter account_ is _disgusting_ to me, _even without_ the death threats.

It's not any more reasonable than deciding that Microsoft has worked with the IDF, and therefore everyone who uses Windows needs to be harassed until they change their ways.

And the fact that this is not the first post like this I've drafted, and that I've deleted all of the other ones out of a genuine fear of harassment, is... kinda the fucking point.
