One can for sure consider ancap as a fantasy, because it is. It's a value-laden position about what ought to be. Intentionally so.
But one can still apply basic economic principles like the calculation problem, effects of price controls, monopoly vs competition, etc. on all possibile services provided by a government monopoly and understand what is, and why it is the way it is.
