oh goodness that Canucks and Boston series! The one guy who got drilled into the board head first with no penalty, let alone follow-up? And then the penalty calling game 7 was atrocious. Refs basically descended into not calling any penalty that wasn't a mandatory call.
And Boston's two giant defencemen basically treated that as a mandate to keep doing illegal stuff because the refs weren't going to call it.
I was disappointed for the Canucks fans, but particularly disappointed that the game just felt so bad.
I honestly felt the same way about the finals last year. I did not feel like hockey. Florida's defensive strategy was hack and slash and hold. You can interfere as much as you want, because they're only going to call mandatory penalties.
It's worse than just watching the Canadian team losing. It just kind of sours the whole experience. I mean, I have seen zero playoff games this year and that's why.
