I've been building a native Nostr client for macOS, written in Zig. It's fast, it keeps its own copy of your feed, and it has come a long way since the first release. Here's what has landed.

ā Your feed reaches people your own relays don't carry
ā Nobody you follow goes missing, wherever they publish
ā Threads open properly, and a missing parent says so
ā Reactions, replies and zap totals arrive with the feed
ā Mentions are people you can click
ā Writing
ā Post, reply, quote and repost
ā See who a note will notify, and switch anyone off
ā Hashtags become real tags
ā Replies reach everyone in the thread

ā Notes with several photos show all of them
ā Big photos load now
ā Faces and profile banners too
ā The image proxy can be switched off completely

ā Held in its own process, away from the screen
ā Stored in the macOS Keychain, not a plain file
ā Paste an nsec straight into a terminal, never through the app
ā Read everything without a key at all

ā Plaza can be your bunker: paste the link into any client and sign there
ā Every app is asked separately for each thing it wants to do
ā Answers last as long as you say: once, a day, always, or no
ā Everything connected is listed, and cuttable
ā Survives a restart, same link

ā A dead connection is noticed and redialled
ā Every background request has a deadline
ā No more pointless reconnects
ā Making it yours
ā Reaction, repost, reply and zap counts can each be hidden
ā Your mute list is read and honoured, and you can mute from here
227 pull requests to get here, 100 of them since the first release. Another 73 in the Nostr library underneath it.
Still early, plenty left to fix. But it feels like a real client now.
