Absolutely. That is what Private DNS is designed to do.
The folk at GrapheneOS suggest that you should use the Private DNS as a last resort, instead use the DNS settings provided by your Internet provider (this is the Browser setting below). That is not always the best solution as most providers do not take security and privacy into consideration.
You have two options:
1. Add a Private DNS entry under Settings > Network > Private DNS.
The entry needs to be a URL not an IP address (as in Cloudflare 1.1.1.1). I use AdGuard: dns.adguard-dns.com
2. Add an entry into your browser only. I use Brave. Go to:
Settings > Brave Shields and Privacy > Use Secure DNS
- Use your current DNS Provider
- Choose Another Provider
I select the second option:
Customized
Then enter: https://dns.adguard-dns.com/dns-query
Just exit from here because there is no Save button. Check to see that the entry has been saved.
You should be good to go.
