This was prompted by listening to Tho Bishop of the Mises Institute today screech and guffaw at how poorly they’re managing the monetary system.

Bro, if anybody with even one brain cell left can identify that the current trajectory is unsustainable, you can be certain that central bankers have been aware of it for even longer than you and are positioning themselves accordingly.

Bessent and his ilk aren’t dumb. They’re all at the table playing Jenga. Some players like Bessent get to move pieces. Others just have seats at the table. Then when the tower goes down, it’s hungry hungry hippos for all of the pieces. The other 99.9% of the world are on the floor, hoping a piece will inadvertently fall off the table so they can scramble for it.
Assuming that central bankers don’t want their bond yields to rise freely might be the wrong assumption.

Perhaps the game is not to prevent the Jenga tower from falling. They know that is a foregone conclusion. Instead, the game is to get as many fallen pieces onto their side of the table for the next round. A “controlled demolition”, if you like.

Welcome to The Great Taking.
