Nostr actually saved me from getting rugged on Liquid. How? Kind of a strange story, but it involves my on-chain tipping address and the former #NostrRichlist run by JSKitty (npub16ye…g4wn).
After receiving a nonconsensual deposit from Alex Gleason (npub1q3s…d26p) to my permanent npub-derived P2TR address, I decided to send 2 million sats to my already-doxxed wallet to put my name on the top of the list. It stayed there for four hours until npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s (npub1xts…kk5s) dethroned me by sending himself 21 million sats.
The deposit I made to my on-chain address was funded via a Boltz swap from a Liquid wallet I had been using to hold a balance intended for my Lightning node. I had planned to move the funds back later, but never got around to it, so they stayed there until the Liquid exploit. The address is the opposite of a confidential balance, but it turned out to be a much safer place than the alternative.
For the record, I still think on-chain zaps are stupid, but apparently less stupid than what happened yesterday.
