Plebalop or not, it is increasingly difficult for critically thinking bitcoiners to deny that Bitcoin Core has acquired an informal institutional hierarchy whose power is substantially greater than the traditional “maintainers are merely janitors” story implies. Funding, mentorship, reviewer attention and social reputation are upstream of repository authority, so institutional concentration in those areas is a genuine Bitcoin governance risk.
