Nymchat recently was attacked, on purpose, by a malicious actor who spammed all channels hoping to annoy our users. This person also has been the source of all spam across Bitchat channels for the past year. So, if you encountered spam in any geohash channels, you can thank that piece of shit. Due to their recent attacks, it forced my hand to completely block the client he built and treat them as malicious actors and spam. I also built a feature that uses hardware-level proofs among other things to validate the user is using the Nymchat app, which allows them to optionally see only messages from other Nymchat users. It’s really sad, “and this is why we can’t have nice things”, because of such an asshat. Nevertheless, Nymchat is more resilient as a result. It does mean, if you use the Zapstore version with GOS it might show some notification about API, but you can safely ignore it.
