Brazil's CVM Launches DLT Pilot for Securities Tokenization
Brazil's Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM) has initiated a pilot program to test distributed ledger technology (DLT) for securities tokenization. The 60-day (extendable by 30 days) initiative, led by the Tokenization Working Group (GTT), will simulate transactions involving equities, bonds, receivables, and investment fund shares.
This move aligns with global trends in exploring Tokenized Real-World Assets (RWAs) to reduce intermediary costs and expedite trade settlements. Findings from this sandbox approach are expected to inform future regulations for digital assets in Brazil's capital markets.
