Yeah that isnt my position. I just take issue with how the ads are being delivered these days. Most of them are intentionally playing on a trust relationship between the podcaster and listener and I think it's unethical. Running an ad without that component wouldn't be so bad. Telling me a product is the best and safest is unethical if you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. You're lying to me for money. It reminds me of the ratings agencies during 2008.
They can do whatever they want. It's just going to keep burning people and killing trust. People form connections with other humans. If it's a cereal commercial on TV, I get up and take a piss. I don't think the person on TV is telling me that cereal is good for me.
