As President von der Leyen said, dangerous crossings must stop immediately. Smuggling networks must be dismantled. And returns must be swift, in line with our rules.
Protecting the Union’s external borders is a crucial part of our efforts to tackle irregular migration and prevent dangerous journeys.
I am in close cooperation with Magnus Brunner and Dubravka Šuica, who are working closely with authorities & partners to help manage the situation.
