I think there were signs long before, but we poorly acknowledged the significance of what's going on.
I remember Steven Wilson was singing about consumerism along with the creepy growth of drug prescription trends for children in the late 2000s. He was expressing worry and confusion because it's not clear how to even evaluate this stuff, in which direction will it possibly change the society.
