Seems like SHY critique of the encyclical boils down to this:

Technology is not neutral - correct

But tech could be used for this or that - which is a neutrality argument.

The problem is, the cat is out of the bag. This is exactly like the story of nuclear, except it doesn't have to be centralized. You can really hear SHY's pro-GCC leanings popping in at the very end.

I'm honestly unsurprised at the continual disappointment of modern scholarship which still doesn't seem to have reflected on Oct 7th or moved on anywhere in the past 3 years. Agreed - neutrality arguments are weak. But luddite arguments are stupid when engagement with tech is unavoidable. Your only path then is the brushed off thread of accelerationism and in that future you can have a qualitative discourse.
