I was listening to KUCO Classical Oklahoma City, A Day to Remember History Segment, this morning. They focus on often relatively little known historical events of significance. They described a rather important terrorist event that I'd actually never heard of, the New York City Bombing of 1920, in front of the JP Morgan Bank, in which 38 people were killed and 145 injured, right in the heart of New York's financial district. The incident was described as being related to extremist groups involved with anarchism, communism and anti-capitalism.

Actually it was about the false prosecution of Sacco and Vanzetti, who were ultimately executed for a crime they certainly didn't commit. Eventually, the judge in the case had his home bombed as well. He survived, but, he had to live in a heavily guarded bunker for the remaining rather upleasant year of his life, and his wife and housekeeper were badly injured. Authorities did get the message, and moved away from false prosecutions of immigrants. Sad to say, violence does work. Sometimes, it's the only way, I'm afraid. But, you probably see why you and I have never heard of this particular act of "terrorism" don't you?

So I do hope all Oklahomans do remember KUCO in their upcoming membership drive for the great work they're doing, won't you?
