People aren’t commenting because they hope to increase someone else’s engagement metrics. They’re commenting because they’re trying to build a relationship, challenge an idea, or add something useful.

If those efforts disappear into a void often enough, people naturally ask themselves:
“Why am I spending ten minutes writing thoughtful replies when they’re never even acknowledged?”
How #Nostr feels to me right now:

Person A: “Here’s what I think about...”

Person B: “Interesting. Have you considered…?”

Person A walks away and starts talking to another table.

Eventually, Person B stops joining the conversation.
