Israel Hayom reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appealed to governments across the region, and indirectly to "Israel", for assistance against Yemen's Ansar Allah as Saudi-backed forces suffer major battlefield setbacks.
According to the report, Riyadh's approach to "Israel" was routed through US Central Command, requesting intelligence and other support to help prevent Ansar Allah from taking control of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
The approach, even an indirect one, marks a striking shift for a kingdom that has for years conditioned any normalization with "Israel" on the establishment of a Palestinian state and an end to the occupation, a position Riyadh has publicly reaffirmed throughout the Gaza war. It comes as bin Salman has separately pressed Trump directly for US military action in Yemen, according to CBS News and other outlets, with Trump so far declining direct intervention and offering intelligence and targeting support instead.
