Lush materiality, silk textiles, textile-object, 2018. Unique kimonos.
During 2018, I came out as an evolutionary astrologer within my tight, discriminating art-world environment, and I also decided to create a series of arrangements of objects that could cross the boundaries of what had been established.
I was trained as a textile/fashion designer in Italy and France during the mid-1980s. I still design and make some of my own clothes.
The kimono became a double-edged sword: traditionally a garment encoded with social status, age, marital status, and hierarchy, and at the same time, the means through which I was willing to cut through the hierarchies already established in the art world.
The intention was to fully integrate all my parts through art and through behavior. What you see now is the result of that polymathy.
