BIP110 is good for Bitcoin.
Because human nature is messy and Bitcoin was never designed to fix human nature. It was designed to (hopefully) survive human nature.
In a leaderless, decentralized and permission-less system, that involves massive coordination of people, one should expect regular splintering to occur.
Many misconceptions persist, in every facet of human existence. Therefore it's a given that, in a leaderless system, from time to time, groups will galvanize around a particular set of shared misunderstandings.
The best we can hope for is not that we've built something that fixes this peculiar feature of human nature.
The best we can hope for is that we're building something that can outlast that aspect of ourselves. Because, as destructive as it may be, it is ultimately also creative.
We discover the best way forward, not by all moving in the same direction, but through splintering.
This is the nature of life, the universe and everything in it.
