It back in 2015 when I first got interested in keeping fish and aquatic plants.

It all started with this one betta fish.

Then I thought: “Maybe I should get him a bigger bowl?”
Then: “How about a plant?”
(You can see both in the picture.)

And somehow, that turned into a full-fledged aquarium at home and eventually another aquarium at the school where I taught English and German.

After moving to Poland, I went years without keeping an aquarium. Then last year, I got one fish … yes, you guessed it: one small betta fish. 😄

And, once again, things escalated.

That one betta now lives in a 25-liter planted aquarium with a whole cleanup crew of Amano shrimp and several kinds of snails. To my credit, I have kept the aquarium and the species small this time to make the maintenance easier and keep the costs low.
