Bitcoin does not have staking. It is not a proof of stake protocol. It has proof of work. If you are earning interest on Bitcoin via an exchange, they are *lending your Bitcoin* for margin trading. This, of course, comes with risks. There is no return on capital without either risk or inflationary dilution. Since Bitcoin has a fixed supply, it is logically impossible for you to earn a return without risk.

In this instance the first risk is that whoever is borrowing your Bitcoin so thoroughly blows through their margin position, at a speed faster than they can be liquidated. This very rarely happens, but it is not unheard of. You can lose your Bitcoin this way too! I’m not telling you not to do it, but I’m just letting you know. Bitcoin does not have staking. You are lending it. And lenders accept portfolio risk on their loans.
