"A fragmenting tessellation containing over 3,333 hand painted obtuse triangles, seamlessly held within more than 1,111 equilateral triangles. Since the Heian era, this hexagonal geometric pattern has been used as decoration upon statues of Buddha. The pattern is called “Asanoha”, a Japanese word for hemp leaves. This tessellation of triangles represents strength and beauty, a protection against evil."
