I’ve found 3.8 27b to be pretty competent and versatile. I use it with Hermes and OpenCode daily. It’s not Claude Sonnet or Opus but it holds its own. As a bonus, when my employer’s AI account runs out of credits I can switch over to this and continue on, albeit slower. I’m hosting it on a MacBook Pro M4 Pro with 48 GB RAM.
