The ability for us and the future generations to run full nodes and have pride in running them is paramount.
If this potocol is not ran by pleb nodes who enforce the rules, it is doomed and will become less decentralized over time. If less and less individuals run them, trust in this network will decrease until there is none left.
There is no light without the torch, there is no torch without the torch-bearers.
Bitcoin is about ending central banking and the paracitical nature of our tyranical goverment. Allowing arbitrary data on chain does nothing to that end and the cost is passed onto the full nodes for zero benefit.
