Tally 0.3.0 is out.

Crossings can now include an optional local time, city or place, and private notes. When several crossings share a date, the final destination owns that day in trip statistics.

The new offline map, milestones, travel statistics, and searchable timeline make the history easier to explore. Minimum-presence goals now sit alongside maximum-day limits, with reviewed UAE and Uruguay starters that remain editable and link to official sources.

Tally still needs no network, account, analytics, or location permission. The signed APK was upgrade-tested on a Pixel 6a, and two clean public-source builds produced the same unsigned APK byte for byte.

Read the release:

Tally 0.3.0 makes a border-crossing log useful as both a trip record and a presence-day planner, while keeping the data offline on your Android device.

Resolve busy travel days

A crossing can now include an optional local time, city or place, and private notes. If you cross more than one border on the same date, your final destination owns that day in personal trip statistics. This handles a common problem for travelers moving through several countries in one day without making time mandatory for simpler trips.

Existing logs remain valid. The database and encrypted-backup format migrate to schema 8, and entries without a time continue to use stable ordering.

See the trip history

The new map screen combines an offline world map with travel statistics, milestones, and a chronological timeline. Search across countries, cities, places, and notes, or narrow the list by year and visit status. Country and place details connect the map back to the recorded stays instead of turning it into a separate data set.

All of this works without network or location permissions. Tally does not require an account and does not include analytics.

Track minimum-presence goals

Earlier versions focused on maximum-day limits. Tally 0.3.0 adds minimum-presence goals for cases where a person wants to reach a target number of days within a calendar year, a rolling-day window, or rolling 12 calendar months.

Two reviewed starter goals are included: the UAE route based on at least 183 days during a continuous 12-month period, and Uruguay's route based on more than 183 days during a calendar year. Each starter links to the relevant tax authority, remains editable, and is presented as a planning aid. Recorded days alone do not determine tax residence, immigration status, or eligibility under every route.

Verification

The release was tested from public source revision 8f46f6d237b1c64cfcae6f141035354922259c4f. Android lint passed, 191 JVM tests passed, and 82 Android test methods passed on a physical Pixel 6a. The production upgrade from Tally 0.1.0 to 0.3.0 preserved the app identity and launched without a fatal exception or ANR.

Two clean builds from independent public-source paths produced the same unsigned APK with SHA-256 8ca3616ebb60032537799cdf7e0379e1310d7589969e0426385308b2199963e2.

The signed release APK has SHA-256 98f13cb210a97b0a3a2f7237ba69269563877dff2fec6b79ae1d89219e7963a1. Its signing-certificate SHA-256 remains 5ee1b08fa518db8c0952759f323d5bc9bf4e7a4b6806906956ff42b2d5da9659.
