If you have become weak to the point that your mobility has become limited, then you can take pain killers (which will only make the underlying problems worse) or you can work to restore your strength. The work is likely to involve even more pain before things get better.
The same is true in most other areas as well. There are no easy political solutions & telling people the truth about the situation is very likely to make them mad. No one is coming to save you.
