Americans tend to have a sort of anti accountability fantasy. They want to be so ‘above’ everyone else that they are accountable to no one. But this is an adolescent fantasy, once you live a bit you realize how out of line with reality it is.
An employee is accountable to their manager. The manager is accountable to the CEO. The CEO is accountable to the VC’s. The VC’s are accountable to their investors. Around and around it goes.
You will never find a job, a title, that makes you accountable to no one. And even if you could, what a horrifically lonely life that would be.
