I am reading and absorbing one chapter at a time. Each chapter is singular. And powerful.
This morning I read J. Gray’s chapter. It hit me in the heart, because she and I are the same age. She lived in DC as a child and I lived in northern Virginia. I had many Black friends in my junior high and high school, but I know I did NOT understand their lived reality. I only learned a few years ago that one of my very best friends had a cross burned on his lawn in Alexandria, Virginia in the 70’s. I was shocked and heartbroken.
Each chapter is singular. And powerful. I hope to be unified with everyone in the best way I can and that starts with learning and understanding. Thank you to you and the authors.
