## Weekly Development Bulletin

**Week ending August 29, 2026**

### Adaptation Revival

**RoboCop — Prime Video**
Amazon’s eight-episode live-action *RoboCop* series has cast Dan Stevens in the title role. The premise updates the franchise’s core idea for a tech-conglomerate era: a corporation places a robot containing the consciousness of a fallen police officer onto a city police force.

**Theme:** Corporate power, automated policing, identity, and the human cost of technological control.

**Key creatives:** Peter Ocko is writer, executive producer, and showrunner; James Wan and Atomic Monster are executive producing with Amazon MGM Studios.

### Romance On Court

**Love Love — Amazon MGM**
Amazon MGM’s tennis romantic comedy *Love Love* is **currently in production**. Isabel May and Tyriq Withers lead as a struggling tennis prospect and a charismatic local ball boy whose romance unfolds during the U.S. Open.

**Theme:** Ambition versus intimacy, celebrity-pressure sports, and an underdog romance set inside a high-stakes tournament.

**New cast:** Desmond Chiam, Mary Beth Barone, Kam Patterson, Stephen Schneider, and Lev Gorn join earlier additions Adeline Rudolph, Audra McDonald, and Dylan McDermott. Joey Power directs and co-wrote with Daniel Sweren-Becker.

### Finance-Drama Expansion

**Industry — Season 5, HBO**
*Industry* Season 5 is now in production in the UK, with Cary Elwes, Dianna Agron, Sam Riley, Jessica Brown Findlay, Luke Manley, Bally Gill, and Eduard Poliakov joining the cast alongside returning stars including Myha’la, Marisa Abela, and Kit Harington. [1]

**Theme:** Money, status, tech wealth, power brokerage, and moral compromise inside global finance. The new roles include an investor, a Silicon Valley-made businessman, a wellness-tech CFO, and a trader—signaling an expansion of the show’s financial-power ecosystem. [1]

### Young-Adult Adaptation

**Better Than the Movies — Netflix**
Netflix’s adaptation of Lynn Painter’s BookTok hit *Better Than the Movies* has set Beatrice Kitsos and David Iacono as its leads. [2]

**Theme:** A self-aware romantic comedy built around the gap between cinematic expectations of love and real relationships. [2]

**Stars to watch:** Kitsos comes from *Percy Jackson and the Olympians*, while Iacono appeared in *Jurassic World Rebirth*. [2]
