I think it's also very smart of OneDrive to implement a trash directory and version control (and I definitely need to setup rm to move things to the trash by default), but that's totally achievable isn't it?

Ideally I'd want some of those things accessible on my phone, like my photos and music collection, even movies for streaming!!! and this is when you get into selfhosting a cloud or whatever but this again feels like working atop a system that fundamentally isn't designed for people who have a desktop, a laptop, and a phone. of which many people now have at least two.

Ram, storage, and compute has gotten really expensive again to where having several devices that can both do it all is cost-prohibitive, we can do better than this.

Hell, not to reinvent the nas or anything, but it's really inefficient for two people to have distinct but overlapping media collections, for instance, or working documents.

We really need a multi-user, multi-device system. Every member of my household should be able to have an account on the same system, use the desktop to render video when not otherwise occupied, and have access to the same media collection, even if you want to have it segmented so each user has a private folder.

What is the point of a powerful pc if you're not making use of it
