Yep, that’s why I installed a BNC on my HT. My fire department HT I keep next to the bed wasn’t getting out after the trees were fully leafed this spring. It got so bad I missed a few calls. I connected it to my base station antenna that sits on my roof and now I send and receive just fine. A BNC is also much easier to handle in the middle of the night when a fire call comes in, it’s dark, I’m still half asleep and just got a shot of adrenaline.
