Nothing but Indian mother's obsession with making her son relevant. If you have money, buy him positions & if you have enough social capital, arrange a marriage so another woman can take care of him.
This isn't even nepotism anymore. We've reached the point where academic positions can apparently be bought as an honour.
And it is deeply insulting to anyone who sees academia as one of the few spaces where intellectual dissent can still challenge, rather than bow to, blatant capitalism.
