🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️
-THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-
Belgian identity has always been in-between. The seaside hamlet of Knokke-Heist, sandwiched by the Port of Antwerp-Bruge and the Dutch border, commissioned Parisian practice Jakob + MacFarlane to design a 100-residence tower to bring back locals and young people pushed out by rising real estate prices.
The Community House takes the region’s vernacular houses and stacks and renders them in aluminum panels as if they’re shipping containers. Part housing, part vertical village, it also includes a meeting hall, shops, and a library.
