Great advice. And if I may add to what you said:

A wind-driven wildfire swept across open grasslands and destroyed more than 1000 homes here in just a few hours back in December 2021 (Marshall Fire). There was very little warning time, and the fire was able to jump a 6-lane concrete highway in the 100 mph winds. That event shocked everyone into facing the reality of extreme and unstoppable wildfire behavior along the Colorado Front Range. It’s not a matter of “if” there will be another catastrophic fire, but “when.”

In a fast-moving wildfire situation, there may be only a few minutes warning to evacuate. So even though it’s “one more stressful thing to do,” prepare yourself and your Go Bag now.

And if you live in a wildfire area, sign up (today! now!) for local, official city/county/state emergency notifications, plus download a reliable app like Watch Duty (today! now!) to stay informed about fires and evacuations. Don’t wait until you see/smell smoke — it may be too late by then.
