There are lots of strategies to address scaling that will be good enough. Pretty good ones, in fact.

My initial reaction to bitcoin was that it can’t scale. Every transaction in the world gets stored on everyone’s computer??!? Ridiculous!!!

Turns out bitcoin scaling is a challenge, but it’s not fatal to the entire endeavor and it’s a challenge we simply need to face. Same thing with precalculation and publication of WoT scores.
