Oh I get it. My wife was disabled in a car accident the day after Christmas. She's been in and out of the hospital with health problems. We're also suing two different hospitals that discharged her with nothing but pain killers when she had internal bleeding and a lacerated liver and spleen. Our lawyer instructed us not to pay any medical bills out of pocket until the lawsuit is resolved. She has insurance but they've been default denying all the larger bills at first. We have over 130k in medical debt and some of it has already been sent to collections. The lawsuit is dragging on but the lawyer is very thorough. We're going after both hospitals on a EMTALA violation and if they lose in court they'll lose Medicare and Medicaid, so the stakes are high. She's still bed-bound and recovering almost six months later.
