The post was about the idea that taxes are levied to pay interest to bankers. I don't think they'll hold so much govt bonds if they weren't mandated to. It's not like bonds are great investments or anything.

The overall point I was trying to make is that Govts make banking they way it is today. Things we generally hate banks for, like being insolvent, printing so much money and lending easy credit have more to do with the laws and regulations they are dealing with rather than how they inherently work. I don't think the core functions they do are necessarily evil. It's just satisfying market demand, albeit ineffectively because there is no competitive pressure for them to be effective. Bitcoin can potentially change this.
