Property ownership and self-ownership are not just statuses with property. They imply a relationship between you and your property that you don't have with property you don't own i.e the advantages and disadvantages that other owners have over you.
This is the very problem Mises warned about, as no private property means no exchange, no exchange means no price formation, and therefore no way to compare the costs and benefits of different properties. No economic calculation means said costs and benefits go hidden, resulting in unmet needs.
