My fear (I believe) is more grounded in reality—that AI is going to increase the number of imbeciles on the planet. Hear me out .
Using AI as adults is one thing, we (hopefully) have been educated (?!) and have a cognitive foundation. Kids today are another story. Without much of a cognitive foundation how could they possibly be asking the right questions to refine and qualify AI outputs? In this early stage of AI (of unknown length), they’ll filling their heads with mishmash, without the skills to relearn and soon will be sounding James Joyce!
There is going to be a gap of intelligence of yet unknown length in tomorrow’s workforce. As bad as a couple decades of “woke” has been, the coming (my last few thank god) will be exponentially worse. I’m not worried though personally, reveling in my ability to see and process the world as it is from the nosebleed section of bleachers I’m building on the back of my property. 😎
