Malicious charging cables can look exactly like legitimate ones.
The O.MG cable looks like a standard Apple cable but contains a hidden chip that can steal data, inject keystrokes, or provide remote access. You cannot tell the difference by looking at it. Hak5 sells them commercially at roughly $120 to $180.
Only use your own cables from trusted sources and never borrow charging cables from strangers.
