The Buddha said noble friendship is the whole of the holy life. We do not awaken as soloists. Sangha is the people who remind us to return. Gratitude for sangha is thanks for the ones who sit with us, who tell us the truth, who keep the forms when we are tired. Even a small group, even one friend who practices, is a field of merit. We belong to each other on the path.
