Prior softforks added capabilities/fixed defined bugs. BIP-110 removes a valid use case based on a value judgment about what Bitcoin is for. These permissions, if implemented, change what it is.
I want to agree and run knots but I don’t want bitcoin to be controlled. This opens that door.
