I am wondering how safe and trustable custodial services are, and how much news we will be hearing from now on that they are hacked.
I guess, we will build new habits, and knowledge out of all of this. The question is, how much painful it will be.
Also a different angle. The thing is, when you self-host, it is more time-consuming, but you know your defense mechanism, your solutions, and you know the risk. If you are a casual custodial service user, you have no clue what is coming, until you are part of it.
