I might be amongst one of the last generation who got to grow up coming home when the street lights came on. That's not a meme, that was reality. I got to make my own choices, make my own mistakes and learned to handle them on my own. I knew if i fucked up too bad, I feared the stick and it kept me mostly in line.
Lately ive started letting my son roam the neighborhood on his own with his bike after school. I let him go find other kids on his own. (There are some of his friends who are still restricted like cant go past the stop sign 3 houses down). Anyways, I think its good for him. No scheduled play dates, no specific geofence. Make a judgement call yourself and fully face the consequences good or bad.
