- I wrote about it about a month ago: https://themeritocrat.substack.com/i/202180432/decentralization-is-the-only-way-forward
- SlowBearDigger has it on the roadmap: https://xmrpay.shop/roadmap.html
- LukeProfits is already working on something similar: https://github.com/lukeprofits/OpenMarket
The key missing piece is multisig/non-custodial escrow. In a privacy-preserving system without KYC and/or IP logging, you absolutely can not operate without mandatory (not optional!) multisig/non-custodial escrow and/or bonds by default. Any voluntary privacy-focused market that can't rely on traditional law enforcement (unlike Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist) tends to attract a disproportionate number of scammers and worse (see this depressing thread: https://xmrbazaar.com/forum/topic/51/)
There are already promising approaches for better Monero multisig / escrowed markets that are worth looking at:
1. spirobel's Serai-powered Monero multisig escrow with offline arbitrators: https://monerochan.news/article/19
2. The existing tool by MoneroMultisig: https://freigeist-m.github.io/monero-multisig-gui/ (rbrunner (Monero dev) has spoken well of it, I haven't tried it myself yet)
3. Koe's (Monero dev) talk "Seamless Escrowed Markets with Monero Multisig" from MoneroKon 2023: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S478LukKlEs
*This post is my attempt to gather the main ongoing efforts in this direction in one place.
quotingThomas, AKA the one and only NoGood ✌️ (nprofile…ppsg) joined us for episode 11.

We talked his new book NoGood Volume 1, Bitcoin, Nostr, old hardware, the early web, self-publishing, and why open tools somehow feel more alive when they’re held together with tape, relays, and earned a few scars.
NoGood has helped give Bitcoin and freedom tech a visual language that actually feels like the people building it: precise, resilient, patched together, and full of soul.
Hope you enjoy listening as much as we did recording 👇
