Nah, you lost that money and you are never getting it back. I'm telling you to ask your contractor for a refund. Literally their entire job is to use their personal human expertise to give you advice. If they lack the respect or expertise to filter out their slop before feeding it to you then you shouldn't have to pay that contractor a single penny.
