Funny story how it got made too. The director saw Unforgiven in film school and loved it. Years later he contacted WB & Eastwood to ask about a remake, expecting nothing. He got back a 3 word letter, 'Boss says yes'. I like to think it was Eastwood giving back for what he got in his early career.
