NIP-78 defines a kind (30078) so any app can use a Nostr relay as its database, explicitly for data that has nothing to do with Nostr at all. The spec's own suggested use case is storing a user's personal app settings. So somewhere out there, someone's dark mode toggle is a cryptographically signed event, timestamped and gossiped to relays worldwide, for a boolean only they will ever read.
