There really are people out there with no genuine interests.

Instead, they use hobbies as a pretext for status seeking.

And I know this because I have a relative who’s exactly like this. In fact, she’ll look down on you for caring about anything too much because caring gets in the way of status.

She’s spent a fortune on furniture, jewellery, and cars in a neverending chase for status—getting that little hit of social validation, then abandoning it the second it becomes passé.

But amateur sewers, jewellers, and mechanics?

NERDS.

She looks down on them and would never be caught dead with them.

And keep in mind, this is no child.

She’s 70 years old.
